For around 15 years, I have worked with register-based epidemiology and have extensive experience in research based on a range of Danish registries and databases.
My recent research has focused on the use of nationwide databases and registries in epidemiological studies, with a particular emphasis on environmental exposures within the Big Data Centre for Environment and Health (BERTHA) project. By linking individual-level health data with spatial environmental information, a deeper understanding of disease patterns, environmental risk factors, and the impact of place on health outcomes is achieved.
I manage all aspects of register-based research, from study idea, study design, securing necessary data permissions and approvals, data management, and statistical analysis to presenting the results in scientific peer-reviewed journals and on international conferences.
I teach on the postgraduate course “Introduction to register-based research” (Topic: Using registries for environmental research), and I supervise junior staff.
