This research area gathers insights and develops approaches to facilitate constructive climate debates and the collaborative pursuit of climate solutions among diverse stakeholders at all life phases. It includes research on understandings of climate information and education for sustainability, including how they intersect with issues of trust, anxiety, motivation, and social identity. This area takes the university itself as a site for experimentation and transformation, fostering new types of education (from BA to PhD levels) as well as innovative partnerships to support interdisciplinary research. Alongside novel basic research, this area also explores creative methods to make climate science accessible and build bridges between academic research and community- and school-based initiatives, including through interactive workshops, educational initiatives, and digital platforms. In doing so, it offers research-based models for how to communicate key findings, mobilize citizens for active participation in the green transition, and address challenges in community engagement and grassroots support.
