This research area addresses the health impacts of combined environmental stressors in a changing climate. It examines how climate-related exposures—such as heat and cold, humidity, UV radiation, and air pollution—contribute to acute and chronic disease burden in the general population and in vulnerable sub-groups. A key focus is climate and work, recognising that climate change increasingly affects occupational health, particularly in outdoor and confined environments. Special attention is given to emerging sectors within the green transition, including renewable energy and recycling, where workers may face new or intensified exposures to thermal strain and hazardous agents. The research also targets particularly susceptible populations, including individuals with allergies and chronic diseases.
