iClimate Pillar B closed down
To improve cohesion across our research pillars, we have made an important adjustment within iClimate. Activities under Pillar B, “Impacts and Risks to Natural and Social Systems,” will be redistributed to Pillars A and C.
🔹 Why the Change?
After careful review, we found that:
- Ecosystem changes and feedbacks in Pillar B closely overlapped with those in Pillar A, making it challenging to address them separately.
- Societal challenges (such as health, agriculture, and infrastructure) were critical to both the impacts and risks of Pillar B and the resilience and adaptation focus of Pillar C.
🔹 What's New?
- Ecosystems and biodiversity work from Pillar B will move to Pillar A.
- Societal areas (health, agriculture, etc.) will shift to Pillar C.
To simplify transitions, those involved in both Pillar B and other pillars will see their Pillar B association removed. Members exclusively under Pillar B have been contacted to discuss their new placements. The existing pillar names (Pillars A, C, D, E, and F) remain unchanged to ensure clarity.
